NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 13 Old Dominion sailing team battled against some of the nation's elite programs for two days out on the Elizabeth River and came away with five total victories and a seventh-place finish in the Aaron Szambecki Team Race.

The eight-team field comprised four of the nations top-five ranked sailing programs and all eight squads were ranked in the Top 15.

Conditions were not ideal on Saturday, but 40 of the 56 races for the first two round-robins were completed. The Monarchs started the day off great with wins over No. 7 Yale and No. 11 Stanford.

Although ODU ended the first round with a 2-5 overall record, it finished Saturday strong with a win over the nation's No. 1 ranked team, the College of Charleston.

On Sunday, the second round-robin was complete and the Monarchs once again ended with a 2-5 mark, topping No. 6 Navy to go along with their Saturday win over the Cougars.
