ST. MARY'S, Md. - Old Dominion women's sailing highlighted this past weekends action on the water, finishing eighth in an 18-team field at the St. Mary's College Women's Intersectional. ODU also competed at the Truxtun Umsted regatta and finished 13th.
Senior skipper Stephanie Roble had another solid weekend, guiding the Lady Monarchs to a fourth-place finish in the A-Division. The All-American skipper teamed up with junior crewmembers Emily Reich and Arianna Baker for eight Top 5 finishes in just 14 races.
In B-Division racing, ODU was extremely inconsistent, but the Lady Monarchs did pick up two wins and a third-place result en route to finishing 13th.
Yale narrowly edged Boston College, 174-178, to win the regatta.
Junior Gavin Rudolph and sophomore Zach Runci led ODU at the Truxtun Umsted regatta, with each sailor finishing 10th in his division.
Rudolph posted 10 Top 10 finishes in 17 races, including a second-place result in the fourth and 14th race. Runci had 12 Top 10 finishes and ended extremely strong, claiming second in two of the final five races.
Old Dominion returns to the water March 26-27, competing in three regattas. The Monarchs will host the Aaron Szambecki Team Race and travel to the Arrigan Memorial and MAISA/SAISA in Hampton.
