NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Baseball Monarchs host the Huskies of Northeastern in a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. at theBud Metheny Baseball Complex.
Northeastern is led by Matt Miller with a .370 batting average and 14 runs scored. Jeff Dunlap is hitting .349 with a team best three homers and 12 RBI. On the mound,Andrew Heenhouts has a 1.50 earned run average, followed by Sam Berg at 3.12.
Junior first baseman Joey Burney is hitting .306, while Shawn Sizemore leads the team with 14 walks. Both Brent Frazier and Josh Wright have 12 runs scored each. Wright and Burney also have hit threehomers each.
On the mound, Junior righthander Ben Tomchick is 3-1 with a 1.42 ERA. Tomchick was the CAA Co-pitcher of the Week for last week. Senior lefthander Kyle Hald is 2-1 with a 1.55 ERA and has 34 strikeouts in 29 innings of work. Freshman Dean Ali is at 1.64 ERA.
As a team, ODU has a 3.86 ERA and opponents are hitting .245.
Saturday's game will begin at 4 p.m. with Sunday's start at 1.
