NORFOLK, VA- The ODU Baseball Monarchs return to action Tuesday and Wednesday whenthey host Rutgers. Both games will start at 3 p.m. at the Bud Metheny Complex.
ODU junior pitcher Ben Tomchick (Virginia Beach, VA.) has been named CAACo-Pitcher of the Week. Tomchick allowed just three hits over seven shutout innings in ODU's 12-5 win over William & Mary last Saturday. Struck out eight and walked only two to improve to 3-1 with a 1.42 ERA for the season.
Michael Lang leads Rutgers with a .300 batting average, while Steve Nyisztor isthe RBI leader with eight. Rutgers comes into the contest with a 5-8 record thusfar this season. The Scarlet Knights swept a three-game series from Michigan anddefeated Miami 6-5 in 10 innings.
The Monarchs are 8-9 overall and are led in hitting by junior first baseman ChrisBaker at .333 with five homers and 19 RBI. Joey Burney and Josh Wright bothhave three homers and Nathan Hartman has 12 RBI.
