NORFOLK, VA--William and Mary junior lefthander Shain Cole and reliever Brett Koehler combined fora five- hitter to lead the Tribe to a 4-0 victory over ODU Sunday afternoon at the Bud Metheny BaseballComplex.
Cole fanned seven with just one walk on the day. Tribe catcher Chris Forsten knocked in two runs witha double in the second inning and a bunt in the sixth. Derrcik Osteen, Kevin Nutter and Tadd Bower each had two hits for William and Mary.
Josh Wright (Bridgewater, VA.), Brandon Shelton Chesapeake, Va.), Shawn Sizemore (Newport News, Va.), Brent Frazier (Fairfax Station, VA.) and Edgar Hernandez (Luquillo, Puerto Rico) each singled forODU.
ODU had runners on first and second (Frazier and Hernandez( with one out in the fifth and in the seventh with two outs (Sizemore and Hernandez), but were unable to score.
The Monarchs return to action Tuesday at 3 p.m. when they host Rutgers.
