NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion women's basketball team is set to host Delaware Sunday in its 2010-11 home finale at the Ted Constant Center. Four ODU senior starters will be playing their final home game in a Lady Monarch uniform.
The pivotal Colonial Athletic Association contest will be aired live at 3 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet with Al Koken and Pam Roecker handling the play-by-play and color, respectively. Sunday's game will also be broadcast on ESPN Radio 94.1 FM with play-by-play provided by Tony Mercurio and color analysis from Susan Montgomery.
Old Dominion (19-8, 13-3 CAA) has won five straight home games, including a 70-65 victory over William & Mary Thursday. Junior Tia Lewis posted 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead ODU over the Tribe.
Delaware (16-11, 9-7 CAA) is coming off a big CAA home win over VCU Thursday. Sophomore All-American Elena Delle Donne tallied 31 points on 9-of-17 shooting. She also went a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line in the UD victory.
The Blue Hens are just 7-5 in road games this season, including a 4-4 mark in CAA games away from the Bob Carpenter Center. Delle Donne returned from her 11 game absence on January 30 at Hofstra and since that point, UD has gone 5-3. Delle Donne is averaging 24.8 points and 8.1 rebounds in 15 games this season.
The Lady Monarchs have won nine straight over the Blue Hens, but the last four games have been decided by a total of just seven points. Old Dominion knocked off Delaware 62-59 in Newark on January 16 as Kquanise Byrd tallied a career-high 22 points.
Fans are encouraged to arrive to the arena early as graduating seniors - Jasmine Parker, Shadasia Green, Alena Voronina and Kquanise Byrd - will be honored pre-game.
