Men's Swimming & Diving Sweeps; Women's Swimming & Diving Splits

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's swimming & diving team swept the competition at the annual pod meet on Sunday, while the women's swimming & diving squad spilt the event going 2-2 on the weekend.

The Monarchs improved to 3-0 on the year with its 269-78 win over the College of Charleston and a 263-89 Colonial Athletic Association victory against William & Mary.

The Lady Monarchs meanwhile improved to 3-2 overall on the year. The ODU women defeated the College of Charleston, 285-66, and Northeastern 211-142, but were edged out 192-161 to host James Madison and 178-173 to William & Mary.

The ODU men won all but one event on the weekend. On day two, the Monarchs were led by multiple event winners junior Arni Arnason (Mosfellsbaer, Iceland) and senior Mikael Ramkvist (Bjarred, Sweden). Arnason, who yesterday captured wins in the 200 free, 400 medley relay, and 200 free relay, won the 100 free (45.85) and 200 IM (1:52.02). Ramkvist, who won the 100 back and 400 medley relay yesterday, meanwhile brought home wins in the 200 back (1:52.78) and 100 fly (52.02), as well as in the 400 free relay (3:08.95) along with freshman Daniel Camozzo (Herndon, Va.), junior Ryan Peart (Fort Washington, Va.), and freshman Sidni Hoxha (Tirane, Albania).

Freshman Jason Haigh (Williamsburg, Va.) also helped the Monarchs to victory with a first place time in the 200 breast (2:08.46)

The Lady Monarchs were led one day two by junior Erla Haraldsdottir (Njardvik, Iceland) winning the 200 breast (2:20.93) and 200 IM (2:08.53).

The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to the water at the UNC Nike Invitational in Chapel Hill on November 18th-20th.
