HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving teams are back in the water this weekend, traveling to the annual pod meet. The Lady Monarchs face College of Charleston, William & Mary, Northeastern, and Host James Madison, while the men take On William & Mary and College of Charleston.

The women's squad enters the weekend at 2-1 on the year coming off a 130-121 win over Radford last weekend. The ODU women also picked up a win over the University of Richmond and fell to UNC-Wilmington earlier this season.

Against the Highlanders last weekend, junior Erla Haradsdottir ((Njardvik, Iceland) and senior April Barrientos (Va. Beach, Va.) were multiple event winners for the Lady Monarchs. Haraldsdottir won both the 200 IM (2:08.61) and the 100 free (52.36), with her 100 free time placing her sixth among the all-time fastest Lady Monarch times. Barrientos, meanwhile, once again took the top time in the 100 back (58.48) and was also a member of the first place 200 medley relay team (1:49.36).

The ODU men return to action for the first time since defeating nine-time CAA Champion UNC-Wilmington back on October 9th.

In the 166-129 victory over the Seahawks, the Monarchs had nine first place finishes including Jason Brame (Lynchburg, Va) in the 500 and 1000 free, senior captain Mikael Ramkvist (Bjarred, Sweden) in the 100 and 200 back, junior Arni Arnason (Mosfellsbaer, Iceland) in the 100 and 200 breast, and newcomer Sidni Hoxha (Tirane, Albania) in the 50 and 100 free.

Arnason was named the CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week after the Monarchs' performance against the Seahawks as his time of 1:50.58 in the 200 IM was just .02 seconds shy of breaking the ODU record.
