2 p.m. - Stadium gates open

AND DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME:
The Monarchs have two games left in the 2010 season and end its final homestand by hosting VMI on Saturday. The 2010 sesson concludes next weekend at N.C. Central. With their 57-9 victory over Savannah State last weekend, the ODU Football Monarchs ensured their second straight winning season.
SENIOR DAY:
The ODU Football team will honor its 11 seniors who will be playing in their final home game on Saturday. The 11 seniors who have helped build and establish the ODU program are:

HOME SWEET HOME:
Old Dominion improved its record to 3-3 this season at Foreman Field with a 57-9 win over Savannah State last weekend. All three losses have come at the hands of teams currently featured in the Top 25 including #1/2 Williams & Mary, #19/18 Cal Poly, and #22/24 Jacksonville.
ON THE ROAD:
ODU is now 6-1 on the road in their young history and 3-0 in 2010 thanks to its 28-14 win over Hampton two weeks ago. In their inaugural season, the Monarchs went 3-1 on the road with wins at Jacksonville (28-27), Savannah State (38-17), and VMI (42-35). The lone setback away from the friendly confines of Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium was a 34-29 loss at Fordham. Only one other road game awaits the Monarchs in a return date with North Carolina Central for the 2010 season finale next weekend on November 20th.
MOST POINTS:
The 57 points scored by the Monarchs are the most in the 20-game history of the program. The previous high was 49 in the 49-17 victory over Virginia Union back on September 12th, 2009. The previous high against a Division I opponent was 44 in the 44-13 win at Campbell on September 11th, 2010.
OPENING WITH A BANG:
And no, we're not talking about the howitzer you hear being shot off before the Monarchs run onto Foreman Field. Old Dominion has scored on its opening drive in five of its games this season and 12 times in the 20 game history of the program.
RISE AND SHINE:
Thomas DeMarco's eight yard touchdown run to kick off the game gave the Monarchs' its earliest score ever. Here's a list to show how early the Monarchs have scored over the last two years.

AND THE YOUTH SHALL LEAD YOU:
A trio of freshman put in some notable performances last weekend against Savannah State. Rookie Aaron Evans (Newport News, Va.), stepping in for the injured Colby Goodwyn (Hampton, Va.) at kick return, raced downfield 92-yards for the Monarchs' first ever kick return for a touchdown. Additionally, true freshman Rashad Manley (Hampton, Va.) served as the Monarchs' signal caller the entire second half, finishing the game completing eight of his 13 attempts for 89 yards. Defensively, freshman Rodney Hunter (Alpharetta, Ga.) made a team-leading 10 tackles.
BLOCK THAT KICK:
Special teams now has 12 blocks to its credit in the last two seasons.
Edmon McClam (Cowart, S.C.) blocked his sixth career PAT in last weekend's win over Savannah State. McClam holds the FCS record for Blocked PATs in a Season (2009 - 5) and Blocked PATs in a Game (3 - Chowan). The FCS record for Blocked PATs in a Career is seven by Tim Hauck (Montana - 1987-89).
The Monarchs had two blocked punts against Hampton by Deron Mayo (Hampton, Va.) and Desmond Williams (Windsor, N.C.) that both resulted in Monarch scores in the 28-14 win. Mayo also rushed the Pirate punter which led Hampton to punt the ball into its own player and set the Monarchs up for a touchdown run from two yards out. Hampton had not had a punt blocked since 2004.
In addition to the Hampton game, Mayo also had a blocked field goal during the first quarter vs Gardner-Webb to preserve ODU's 7-0 lead against the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Alex Arain (Va. Beach, Va.) blocked a punt, ODU's first blocked punt in history, at Monmouth during week four.
Chris Burnette (Randallstown, Md.) also has two blocked PATs from last season.
PICK SIX:
Redshirt sophomore linebacker Craig Wilkins (Washington, D.C.) became the first Monarch this season and second overall to return an interception for a score with his 25-yard INT return in the 57-9 victory over Savannah State. Former linebacker AT Aoleua has been the only other Monarchs to accomplish the feat. Aoleua's was a 77-yard return, also coming against Savannah State in 2009.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL PERFORMANCE AWARDS STRIKES AGAIN:
Four Monarchs were honored for their performances last week against Savannah State by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA). Freshman Aaron Evans was named the National Kick Returner of the Week, while quarterback Thomas DeMarco (Palm Desert, Calif.), punter Jonathan Plisco (Newport News, Va.) and linebacker Craig Wilkins (Washington, D.C.) were Honorable Mention Players of the Week. Evans had a pair of kickoff returns in ODU's 57-9 win over the Tigers, including a 92-yard kick return for a touchdown. It was the Monarchs' first kick return for a score in the 20-game history of the Monarch program.DeMarco completed eight of his 13 attempts in the air for the Monarchs, racking up 198 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Plisco meanwhile returned to the No. 1 spot in the nation in punting after averaging 49.5 yards on a pair of punts in last Saturday's game with Savannah State. Wilkins was also responsible for helping ODU to its largest point total in history with a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown. The redshirt sophomore co-captain also amassed seven stops and an 11-yard sack in last Saturday's win.
MILESTONE ALERT:
Running back Mario Crawford, who enters Saturday's contest with 991 yards on 203 carries, needs just nine more yards to become the second Monarch to accumulate 1,000 yards rushing in a career..
PASSING LAST YEAR'S NUMBERS:
With 122 passing yards against the Pirates on October 30th, redshirt junior quarterback Thomas DeMarco (Palm Desert, Calif.) surpassed last year's total of 1921 yards. To date, the redshirt junior quarterback has total 2200 yards in the air.
