NEWARK, Del. - Meghan Cozens scored on a shot from 25 yards out three minutes into overtime to give Old Dominion University women's soccer a 2-1 overtime victory Friday night at Delaware.
The win snaps ODU's six-game losing streak and is the Lady Monarchs' first CAA win of the season.
ODU dominated much of the contest, outshooting the Blue Hens 22-7 for the game. The Lady Monarchs were especially dominant in the first half, as they outshot UD 12-0.
The Lady Monarchs got on the board in the 40th minute when Ashlee Coutu scored off a Lisa Bernardini shot that hit the post. The goal is Coutu's first of the season and 10th of her career.
ODU was poised to win in regulation, but Delaware's Stacie Dulkis gathered a ball after a scramble in front and scored with just six seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.
The 22 shots tied a season high for ODU, as Jocelyn Weidner led the team with five. Ali Miller had four of Delaware's seven shots.
Jessica Levy kept UD in the game, making 10 saves while Brianna Alvarado earned the win, making three stops.
ODU returns to action on Sunday, as they head to Drexel for a 2 p.m. match.
