WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Senior Paige Clutter and sophomore Maartje van Rijswijk combined for four goals and an assist to lead the No. 19 Old Dominion field hockey team to a 5-1 win at William & Mary in both squads regular season finale Sunday.
The Lady Monarchs (10-10, 7-1 CAA) will enter the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association Tournament as the No. 2 seed after ODU and Drexel finished the year with an identical 7-1 mark in league games. Top-seeded Drexel will host the tournament as the Dragons gave Old Dominion it's lone conference loss of the season earlier in the year.
Northeastern and VCU round out the four-team field that will compete in the 2010 CAA Championships to be held Nov. 6-7 at Buckley Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Lady Monarchs were led Sunday by Paige Clutters two goals and an assist. The senior ends the regular season second on the team with 30 points on six goals and a CAA-best 18 assists.
Senior Loran Hatch added another goal to her season stat line in the win and she now sits with a team-best 17 scores. Van Rijswijk's two tallies give her 14 goals on the year, which is second best on the squad.
Old Dominion outshot the Tribe 24-10 and garnered two more penalty corner opportunities in the contest. Junior goalkeeper Devon Seifert made seven saves for the Lady Monarchs.
