NORFOLK, Va. - Senior Paige Clutter scored a career-high two goals and six different Lady Monarchs registered scores as the No. 20 Old Dominion field hockey team blew past Towson, 8-0, Sunday afternoon at the Powhatan Sports Complex. ODU has now won five straight games and is one of only two teams undefeated in Colonial Athletic Association play.
Clutter, who entered the game with only one career goal, had a career-high five points in the win. Her two goal and one assist day gives the senior 16 points (3 goals, 10 assists) on the season.
Senior Loran Hatch tallied her team-high 10th and 11th goals of the season, while senior Anna Kern and sophomore Maartje van Rijswijk each scored goals for the second consecutive game.
Senior Alyschia Conn and freshman Kati Nearhouse also tallied scores for the Lady Monarchs.
Old Dominion evens its record at 6-6 on the year and improves to 3-0 in CAA action. Towson drops to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in league play.
Junior goalkeeper Devon Seifert made one save and the stellar ODU defense held the Tigers to just two shots. The Lady Monarchs have now registered four consecutive shutouts and have held opponents scoreless for over 253 consecutive minutes.
Old Dominion is outscoring its opponents 19-1 over the last five games and the Lady Monarchs hold a 15-0 advantage against CAA foes.
Old Dominion will be seeking its sixth straight win when it returns to action on October 8 at No. 18 Drexel. The game is set to get underway at 7 p.m.
