No. 20 ODU Routs Delaware In CAA Home Opener, 6-0

NORFOLK, Va. - Senior Loran Hatch recorded a career-high three goals en route to leading No. 20 Old Dominion to its fourth straight win as the Lady Monarchs topped Delaware 6-0 in their Colonial Athletic Association home opener at the Powhatan Sports Complex Friday evening.

Hatch, who had netted two goals in a game on three separate occasions during her ODU career, now has a team-high nine goals on the season.

The Lady Monarchs also received scores from senior Anna Kern, junior Kathryn Kirk and sophomore Maartje van Rijswijk.

The Lady Monarchs are riding a season-high four game winning streak and improve to 5-6 overall and 2-0 in the CAA with the home win. Delaware falls to 4-6 on the year and 0-3 in league play.

The ODU defense and goalkeeper Devon Seifert, who was just yesterday recognized as the womensfieldhockey.com National Player of the Week, have now shut out three consecutive opponents and have not allowed a goal in over 183 minutes.

The Lady Monarchs outshot the Blue Hens 25-3 and none of Delaware's shots reached goal. ODU also earned nine penalty corners while not conceding any.

Old Dominion will look to remain hot as it welcomes CAA foe Towson on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Lady Monarchs are a perfect 9-0 all-time against the Tigers.
