BOSTON, Mass. - Senior Loran Hatch registered her team-high sixth goal of the season and the Old Dominion field hockey team topped No. 11 Boston University 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Jack Barry Field.
The Lady Monarchs (4-6) have now won three consecutive games and three of its four wins this season have come against ranked teams on the road.
Junior goalkeeper Devon Seifert has now posted back-to-back shutouts and improves her record to 3-1 since moving into the starting spot. Seifert and the ODU defense have now kept opponents off the scoreboard for over 113 minutes.
After a scoreless first half, ODU got on the board just 3:34 into the second period. Hatch tallied the lone goal of the game off the Lady Monarchs' only penalty corner opportunity of the contest. Alyschia Conn and Paige Clutter picked up assists on the goal.
The Terriers (6-3) outshot the Monarchs 16-6, but Seifert posted seven saves and got help from Amanda Bieber with a defensive save.
Old Dominion returns to the Powhatan Sports Complex next weekend for its first two home CAA games against Delaware and Towson. The matchup with the Blue Hens is set to get underway on Friday at 5 p.m. The Lady Monarchs and Tigers will battle at 1 p.m. Sunday.
