RICHMOND, Va. - Goalkeeper Devon Seifert shined in her first two career starts this past weekend for the Old Dominion field hockey team and Tuesday she was recognized by the Colonial Athletic Association for her efforts. The league named her CAA Player of the Week after the junior posted a 2.57 goals against average and registered 13 saves against a pair of Top 10 opponents.

Seifert (Marmora, N.J.) posted a .765 save percentage and guided ODU to a 1-1 record on the week. The Lady Monarchs fell to No. 1 North Carolina, but Seifert and the Lady Monarchs defense held the Tar Heels to their lowest goal total of the season in a 3-1 loss.

The junior goalkeeper then followed up that effort by leading Old Dominion to a 2-1 road win against No. 9 Duke. Seifert posted nine saves against UNC and four versus Duke.

Seifert and the Lady Monarchs will next be in action on Friday, Sept. 24 at Northeastern. The game, which is slated to get underway at 2 p.m., will be the CAA opener for both squads.
