NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Soccer Monarchs host HowardSaturday at 6 p.m. in an exhibition match at theODU Soccer Complex.
The Monarchs return six starters from last year's squad, including threepre-season All-CAA selections.
Evan Newton, a senior in goal had a 0.75 GAA, with 54 saves. Sophomore Yannick Smith scored four goals with five assists last season while junior defender Tommy Webb was a CAA All-Rookie selection in 2008. Smith was a second team All-CAA selection last year.
All-CAA Rookie selection Shane Howard returns at forward. Howard scored threegoals and led the team with six assists last season.
Evan Newton led the CAA last year with nine shutouts and ranked third in the league with a 0.75 goals against average which ranked 25th nationally. Yannick Smith ranked eighth in the CAA with five assists.
