NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University freshman golfer Samantha Morrell (North Kingstown, RI.) qualified today for the U.S.Women's Amatuer Public Links Championship which will be held June 21-26 atThe Warren Golf Course at The University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN.
Morrell, the CAA Rookie of the Year shot 80 today at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club in Boylston, MASS.to take one of five spots available for the championships.
Morrell posted top-20 finishes in six of her nine tournaments this year., including three top-3 finishesin her first year as a Lady Monarch. Morrell captured a pair of second place finishes at the Sea TrailIntercollegiate and the C&F Bank Intercollegiate. The freshman finished her rookie campaign witha 76.14 stroke average.
