MADISON, Wis. - The Old Dominion women's sailing team finished the 2010 Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's National Championship in third-place after only two races were completed on the regattas final day.

The Lady Monarchs capped off a stellar year with a solid performance Friday, netting a first and second-place finish in the only two races sailed. Light wind conditions, which proved to be a major issue in the semi-finals earlier in the week, once again plagued the 18-team field.

The first and second-place B-Division finish by senior skipper Katrina Williams and junior Morgan Wilson propelled ODU into a tie for third in the final standings. The Lady Monarchs took home third-place though because they held the tiebreaker over Tufts.

The College of Charleston won the ICSA Women's National Championship for the second time in five years, by a convincing 25-point margin over 2008 winner Boston College. The Cougars, with 84 points, bested the Eagles, who had 109 points after 20 races. ODU ended with 131 points.

With the two stellar races Friday, Williams and Wilson claimed second in the B-Division with 53 points. Junior skipper Stephanie Roble and sophomore crew Emily Reich finished fifth in the A-Division with 78 points.

The ODU coed team will be in action at its national championship regatta in Madison June 1-3.
