NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs (13-20/2-4) hit the road for a three-game CAA series against the Patriots of George Mason. The first game is Friday afteroon at 3 p.m.
George Mason is 17-9 overall and 3-3 in the CAA. Dan Palumbo leads the team with a.446 batting average, followed by Ryan Soares at .442 with six homers and 45 RBI.On the mound righthander Kevin Crum is 4-0 with a 4.18 ERA. A.J. Johnson is one ofthe CAA's leader in saves with five.
The Patriots rank second in the CAA in hitting at .327 batting average.
Sophomore Kenny Stoneback leads the Monarchs in hitting at .373, followed by seniorthirdbaseman Jake McAloose at .337 with four homers, 16 RBI and 22 runs scored.
On the mound junior lefthander Kyle Hald is 5-2 with a 2.30 earned run average.Hald ranks second in the CAA in ERA and leads the league in strikeouts with 56 in(9.22) 54.2 innings, complete games with three and is tied for the lead with oneshutout.
Hald and Mason's Crum are scheduled to pitch against each other on Friday.
The series between George Mason and ODU is tied at 36-36. Last year, the Patriotsbeat ODU two of three at the Bud, and also defeated the Monarchs in last year'sCAA Tournament.
