Norfolk, VA - The Old Dominion Monarchs focused on the punt game with different types of rushes and coverage's during special teams segments today. First Team All-American punter Jonathan Plisco and long-snapper Dustin Phillips performed well with winds gusting 20 to 25 mph.
Plisco kicked several huge punts into the wind between 40 and 50 yards deep in which one stop inside the 10-yard line and the other went into the endzone. Phillips was on the mark placing every snap right on the money on punt and field goal attempts. "We need everybody else to elevate their game to the level these guys are showing right now," said Head Coach Bobby Wilder.
Coach Wilder and his staff have installed a lot of new packages offensively and defensively and he felt that the guys where thinking too much when they got on the field. "It showed in practice today," stated Coach Wilder. "Offensively and defensively we just where not as crisp as I would have liked us to be."
