Hartman, Cosner, Baker Lead ODU Over Mount St. Mary's

NORFOLK, VA--Nathan Hartman had four hits with two RBI and Donnie Corsner knocked inthree runs to lead the Monarchs of Old Dominion (5-4) to a 9-8 victory over Mount St. Mary's Tuesday evening.

Sophomore outfielder Chris Baker doubled home John Malbon to break a 5-5 tie and give ODU the lead for good. Baker had two hits on the day for ODU.

Hartman went four-for five on the day with two RBI. He doubled and scored in the second as the Monarchs scored three runs. He singled in the third and tripled in Edgar Hernandez in the fifth and doubled home Hernandez in the eighth. Hartman now has a team best 13 RBI this season.

Corsner knocked in Hartman with a sacrifice fly in the three-run second, and singled home Austin McGowan and Kenny Stoneback in the seventh to give ODU a 8-5 lead.

Junior Adam Wisniewski picked up his first save of the year, getting a double play ball to end the gameand win it for reliever Cory Toth.

Mount St. Mary's is coached by Scott Thomson ('91) who was inducted into the ODU Sports Hall of Fame last October. MSM pounded out 14 hits led by shortstop Jacob Darr with four hits in five trips. Designated hitter Kyle Kane knocked in three runs for the Mountaineers.

The two teams are scheduled to play again Wednesday at 3 p.m.
