NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion field hockey team dropped its first road Colonial Athletic Association game of the season, falling to Delaware 4-0 on Friday evening. The loss snaps the 12-th ranked Lady Monarchs three-game winning streak.
Delaware, which has won eight consecutive games, improves to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in league play. Old Dominion, playing the second toughest schedule in the country according to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, falls to 5-6 on the year and 1-1 in CAA action.
Junior Loran Hatch (Green Lane, Pa.) and sophomore Rachel Stream (Poolesville, Md.) tied for a team-high with three shots apiece, while senior goalkeeper Kelly Driscoll (West Chester, Pa.) registered five saves for the Lady Monarchs. ODU was held without a goal for the third time this season.
Delaware was paced by current CAA Player of the Week Casey Howard, who scored a game-high two goals.
The Lady Monarchs will next travel to Towson on Sunday. Game time is set for 10 a.m. ODU is 8-0 all-time against Towson.
