Morrell Places Seventh At Richmond Tournament

RICHMOND, VA-- Freshman Samantha Morrell (North Kingstown, RI.) finished with a 151 to tie for seventh at the Spider Invitational. As a team, ODU placed seventh as well.

Morrell shot 76 in the final round to finish just five strokes off the champion,Caroline Lovette of Richmond who beat Kameron Carter of Longwood in a playoff.

Maryland won the event at 602 with Longwood second at 609. ODU shot 318 in thefirst round Monday, but bettered that with a 315 today to finish at 633.

Kristen Hagan (Charlotte, NC.) shot 80 for the second straight day to finish at 160 and tied with teammate Laura Holmes (Co. Mayo, Ireland) at 160. Holmes fired a 79 in the final round.

The Lady Monarchs return to action next Monday at East Carolina's Lady Pirate Intercollegiate.
