Hudson Pitches Two Shutout Innings, Verlander Wins No. 16

Righthander Dan Hudson (ODU'08) pitched two scoreless innings for Chicago and JustinVerlander won his 16th game for Detroit Friday night.

Hudson, pitched two innings of relief in the White Sox, 12-2 victory over BostonFriday night. He had one strikeout and hit a batter. Hudson was called up to theMajors on Tuesday.

ODU's, and the CAA's all-time strikeout king Justin Verlander upped his record to16-7, tying the Yankees CC Sabathia for the AL lead in victories as Detroit beatTampa Bay, 4-3.

Verlander pitched eight innings allowing one run, one walk and striking out seven. He now has a 3.29 earned run average and leads the American League in strikeouts.
