RICHMOND, Va. - Old Dominion's Samantha Morrell (North Kingstown, RI.)was awarded CAA Women's Golfer of the Week after leading the Lady Monarchs to a fifth place finish last week.
The freshman tied for second place, firing a 4-over 220 in the Elon-Sea Trail Intercollegiate hosted on the Willard Byrd Course. Morrell shot 71-74-75 in thethree day tournament.
Morrell finished four shots off the lead pace and just two strokes off the best ODU individual 54-hole score of 218 by Ashley Davis in 2006.
Her team's combined 919 strokes was a school best for 54 holes, surpassing 2006's record of 922 at East Carolina's Tournament.
