NORFOLK, Va. - One game after setting her career-high with three goals, senior midfielder Katie Ueberroth (Stevens, Pa.) dished out a career-best three assists to lead the No. 15 Old Dominion field hockey team past Northeastern, 3-1, Friday evening in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams.

Ueberroth, who is the current CAA Co-Player of the Week after netting three goals in a road win against No. 10 Duke on Sunday, took on a different role against Northeastern. She assisted on all three ODU goals, besting her pervious career-high of two helpers, that she had done on three previous occasions.

The Lady Monarchs improve to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the CAA after winning their second straight game, while the Huskies dropped their second consecutive contest to fall to 4-4 overall and 0-1 in league play. ODU is now 18-2-1 all-time against Northeastern.

Old Dominion grasped control of the game in the opening half by taking advantage of two penalty corners. Sophomore Rachel Stream (Poolesville, Md.) netter her fourth goal of the year to give ODU the 1-0 lead and she was followed by a Loran Hatch (Green Lane, Pa.) goal to give the Lady Monarchs a two-goal edge. Senior Hanna Warren (Green Lane, Pa.) also assisted on both penalty corner goals.

With less than two minutes remaining in the opening stanza, Ueberroth dribbled the ball on the endline and fed a crossing pass onto the stick of sophomore Kathryn Kirk (Lititz, Pa.). Kirk took the feed and put it past the sprawling arms of the Huskies goalkeeper to give ODU a 3-0 lead at the half.

Old Dominion's defense performed well once again, holding Northeastern to only six shots and one late goal. The Lady Monarchs totaled 13 shots in the game and had two more penalty corner opportunities than the Huskies.

Old Dominion will step out of conference for a matchup with Boston University on Sunday. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Powhatan Sports Complex.
