Monarchs Defeat Delaware, 3-0 For Fourth Straight Win

NORFOLK, Va.--The Old Dominion Soccer Monarchs (6-1/1-0) got goals from Mars Keomahavong, Steffen Rabben and Jordan LeBlanc for a 3-0 Colonial Athletic victory over Delaware (2-6/0-1)Friday night.

ODU ranked 28th by College Soccer News has now won four straight games. Freshman Yannick Smith (Hillsborough, NJ.) assisted on two goals for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs first goal came after ODU keeper Evan Newton (Virginia Beach, Va. ) cleared the ball down the field to Steffen Rabben (Fagernes, Norway), the to Yannick Smith who tipped it to Keomahavong (Aukland, New Zealand) for the score.

ODU's second goal came on a header in front of the net by Rabben after a cross from Yannick Smith.The third and final goal was by freshman Jordan LeBlanc (Haverford, PA.) off a corner with the assist from Nick Foglesong (Fredericksburg, Va.).

ODU outshot The Fightin' Blue Hens, 14-5 overall and 7-1 in shots on goal. Evan Newton picked up hisFourth shutout of the season, lowering his goals against average to 0.57. Paul Brandon had four saves for UD.

The goal and assist by Rabben ties him for the team lead in points with Nane Joseph (Cameroon) with three goals, one assist for seven points. Freshman Yannick Smith is now tied with fellow freshman Shane Howard (Co. Carlow, Ireland) for the team lead in assists with four.

ODU returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 3rd when they host the Seahawk of UNC Wilmington at7 p.m.
