NORFOLK, Va. - Sophomore Rachel Stream (Poolesville, Md) was named the Colonial Athletic Association field hockey Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Stream tallied three goals for the Lady Monarchs, including the game winner against No. 11 Penn State on August 28.
Stream led ODU to its first 2-0 start since the 2006 season as the Lady Monarchs also topped Villanova to complete the unblemished week. The back added two goals against the Wildcats to pace an ODU offense that erupted for seven goals, its most since the 2007 season.
Drexel's Susan Ciufo shared Co-Player of the Week honors with Stream as she four goals and an assist on the week.Stream and the Lady Monarchs will conclude their four-game homestand Labor Day weekend with matchups against No. 1 Maryland and No. 6 Virginia. ODU will welcome defending-national champion Maryland to the Powhatan Sports Complex on Friday, Sept. 4 for a 5 p.m. game and the Cavaliers will travel to Norfolk on Monday, Sept. 7 for a 12 noon contest.
