KING'S POINT, N.Y. -- The ODU sailing team finished in 10th place at the Admiral's Cup regatta this weekend in New York. The event was shortened to just eight races because ther wind never filled in on Sunday. ODU was led by junior John Shockey in C division, with an eighth place finish and 61 total points.
Shockey sailed in singlehanded action in C division, and finished just 12 points back of the top five. The junior from Ohio had a win in the first race and a second place finish in the last. He finished out of the top ten just once in the eight completed races.
Kyle Rogachenko and Wilson Stout finished tenth in A division action, with 78 total points. The tandem had a pair of fifth place efforts on the first day and added another top ten finish.
In B division, junior skipper Alan Alkins sailed with Arielle Darrow to an 11th place finish and 71 points. They sailed to a regatta-high third place effort once and finished among the top ten boats in each of the last five races.
