Norfolk, Va. – The fourth-seeded ODU men’s tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the CAA Tennis Championship with a 4-0 victory over #5 Delaware Friday morning at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The Monarchs will take on top seed UNC Wilmington Saturday at 1 p.m.
ODU earned the doubles point against Delaware as Tobias Fanselow and Matt Fawcett downed the Hens’ Austin Longacre and Nolan Greenberg, 8-3, at number one and the Monarchs’ Yakov Diskin and Krzysztof Muzalewski topped Andre Vorobyov and Camilo Perez, 8-2, at number three.
In singles action, the Monarchs picked up three straight-set singles victories to wrap up the match. Aleksandr Seleznev, the CAA Player of the Year, beat Longacre, 6-1, 6-4 at number one, Fanselow defeated Vorobyov, 6-0, 6-4, at number two, and Alex Funkhouser rolled past Courtney Scott, 6-0, 6-1, at number five.
