ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The 18th ranked sailing Monarchs of Old Dominion University finished with a sixth place effort at the MAISA Team Racing Championship last weekend. ODU posted four wins including wins at the Prosser Trophy Regatta against #4 St. Mary's and #20 Washington College.
The ODU team was led by skippers Kyle Rogachenko, Michael Brown, Stephanie Roble and Alan Alkins. Crew for the Monarchs were Jaclyn Finney, Alissa Ayres, Michael Komar, Wilson Stout and Arianna Baker.
The Monarchs finished the event with a 4-10 record and managed three wins in the second round robin. Old Dominion defeated King's College for the second time and also notched the pair of victories against ranked opponents in the second round.
Fifth ranked Georgetown won the event and a trip to the ICSA Team Racing Championships. Joining the Hoyas will be fourth ranked St. Mary's and 13th ranked SUNY Maritime, who finished second and third respectively. Georgetown finished second last year and the St. Mary's team won the national championship two years ago.
ODU will now set sights on a trip to the ICSA Dinghy National Championships, with the MAISA Championship set to take place this weekend in New York and the MAISA Women's Championship set for the following weekend.
