Williamsburg, Va. – The ODU men’s tennis team closed out its regular season on Sunday with a 5-2 loss to visiting South Alabama as the Monarchs said goodbye to their lone senior Aleksandr Seleznev on Senior Day.
The Monarchs won the No. 1 doubles match 8-3 as Matt Fawcett and Tobias Fanselow defeated the Jaguar duo of Romain Bocaert and Hanno Bartsch. However, South Florida came back to win the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and 3.
The singles competition was fierce as all but one match went into a third set. Attempting to win his final match at Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center, Seleznev could not hold off South Alabama’s Marek Sramek who won 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 1.
