ATLANTA, GA--The Georgia State (22-10/5-2)Panthers rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eight todefeat Old Dominion (10-18/4-6), 3-2 in a Colonial Athletic Association game Friday.
Trailing, 2-1 in the eighth Derek Simmons doubled home Nick Hogan to tie the game, 2-2. ThenPinch runner Jonathan Kolowich scored the lead run on a wild pitch.
Max Most (Port Washington, NY.)put ODU up early when he led the game off with a walk, stole third and came home on a sacrifice fly by Jake McAloose (Virginia Beach, VA.). In the sixth Chris Buss (Rosemount, MN. ) singled, advanced to third on an error and came home on a single to left by Max Most.
ODU's freshman pitcher Brett Harris (Chesapeake, Va.) pitched seven innings with six hits, two runs, two walks and three strikeouts in a no decision. Aidan Francis pitched 3.2 innings of relief for the Panthers without allowing a run and picked up his third win of the season.
Donnie Corsner (Virginia Beach, Va.) led ODU with three hits, while Gerard Hall (Washington, DC), Chris Buss and Brett Harris each had two hits. Derek Simmons led Georgia State with three hits, followed by Chase Childers with two. ODU left13 runners on base.
Game two of the series is Saturday at 1 p.m.
