Norfolk, Va. – The ODU men’s tennis team improved to 16-10 on the year and snapped Binghamton’s five-match winning streak with a 4-3 decision over the visiting Bearcats Saturday morning at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
The Monarchs got off to a 1-0 start by winning the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. and defeated Moshe Levy and Arnav Jain 8-5 at No. 1, while at No. 3 and downed Alexandre Haggai and Rafael Rodrigues, 8-4.
In singles play, the Monarchs sealed the win by taking the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 matches in straight sets. Senior got by Levy 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 and Fanselow cruised past Sven Vloedgraven, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. ODU’s final singles victory came with Muzalewski’s 6-3, 6-2 win over Rodrigues at No. 6.
"I am really happy with the way that we competed today against a really tough Binghampton team," said head coach . "I thought that we did a really great job at keeping the energy and atmosphere at a level that we could use to our advantage. Today was evidence of how much we have grown and developed throughout the season and I am excited that we will be coming into the final stretch of the regular season with a strong sense confidence and playing our best tennis."
