HOBOKEN, N.J. -- The Old Dominion women's swimming team picked up a 115-88 victory over Steven's Tech on Friday night. The Lady Monarchs won seven events, including a pair of victories by sophomore April Barrientos (Va. Beach, Va.) and juniors Tina Gianni (Bensalem, Pa.) and Liza Moiseeva (Moscow, Russia).
The day started off with the 200 medley relay capturing a top time of 1:53.59. The squad consisted of Barrientos, Ally Nold, Gianni, and Moiseeva (Moscow, Russia).
Three of the four members of the 200 medley squad went on to capture other victories on afternoon. Moiseeva registered a top time of 54.24 in the 100 free, with Barrientos logging a first place finish with a time of 27.41 in the 50 back. Gianni and Lauren Fiskus (Yorktown, Va.) went one-two for Old Dominion in the 200 IM. Gianni hit the wall in a time of 2:16.03 for a first place finshed followed by Fiskus close behind registering a time of 2:16.16.
Ally Teres (Va. Beach, Va.) and Lauren Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) also helped the Lady Monarchs to a one-two finish in the 1000 free. Teres won the event in a time of 11:00.61 while Johnson clocked in second with a time of 11:08.90.
Rounding out the Lady Monarch victories were Agata Nowak (Gorzow, Poland), who won the 50 fly with her top time of 26.75, and Erla Haraldsdottir (Njardvik, Iceland) with a time of 31.24 in the 50 breast.
The Old Dominion Lady Monarchs, as well as the ODU men's swimming and diving team, return to the pool on Saturday, January 24th in a quad meet featuring Army, American, and George Mason.
