Men's Swimming And Diving Remain Undefeated

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Old Dominion men's swimming and diving team improved to 5-0 on the year and have won their last 15 straight meets as they defeated Florida Atlantic, 165-135, while on their spring break training trip. The women's swimming and diving teams fell to host Flordia Atlantic (176.50-122.50), Northwestern (229-62), and Oregon State (192-99) dropping to 2-6 on the year.

Sophomore Joshua Kinas (Reston, Va.) and freshman Olympian Arni Mar Arnason (Msfellsbaer, Iceland) led the Monarchs with top times. Kinas won the 100 breast, swimming to a time of 58.98, while three-time CAA Swimmer of the Week, Arnason, won the 50 free in time of 21.26 and the 100 free in a time of 46.54. Sophomore Steven Loccisano (Fredericksburg, Va.) finished behind Arnason in the 50 free in second, logging a time of 21.87.

Mikael Ramkvist (Bjarred, Sweden) swam to a second place finish in the 100 back posting a time of 52.97 to help the Monarchs to victory over the Pioneers.

A pair of relay teams posted second place finishes. The 200 free relay squad of Loccisano, freshman Tim Daniels (Oakton, Va.), Ramkvist, and junior Chad Gangwer (Va. Beach, Va.) collected a time of 1:27.91, while the 200 medley team of Ramkvist, Arnason, senior captain Johan Lundberg (Fjaras, Sweden), and Loccisano took home a time of 1:35.81.

In diving, David Skorupa (Richmond, Va.) placed first on the 1 meter. His score of 307.60 was his highest score on the 1 meter this season. He also placed second on the 3 meter with a score of 302.75, another season best.

On the women's side, sophomore April Barrientos (Va. Beach, Va.) took second place in the 100 back. She hit the wall in a time of 58.12, .8 seconds behind first-place Lindsey Alexander of Florida Atlantic.

On the boards, captain Jasmine Moore (Yorktown, Va.) took second on the 1 meter with a score of 254.70 and second on the 3 meter scoring a 252.20, both season bests for the senior Lady Monarch.

The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to the pool on January 10th hosting CAA rival UNC-Wilmington.
