LADY MONARCH MOMENTS:
Old Dominion closes out a four-game home stand on Sunday afternoon with meeting with #15/16 Maryland. The game will air on Comcast Sportsnet (Ch. 35-Hampton Roads) with John Castleberry on play-by-play and Jody Lavin-Patrick on color.
The Terps will be the final non-conference home contest this season. So far, the Lady Monarchs are 3-1 against non-conference competition at the Constant Center in 2008-09 entering Sunday's game with Maryland.
Following Sunday's game, the Lady Monarchs have one last non-conference match-up before hitting the Colonial Athletic Association slate. Old Dominion will travel to Mississippi on January 2nd.
Old Dominion looks to begin a new home win streak as their 29-game home win streak came to a halt Thursday night in the 76-81 loss to #11/13 Tennessee.
Sunday's meeting with Maryland will be the first contest against the Terps since 1993. It will be the Lady Monarchs second victory over a member of the ACC having defeated#16/11 Virginia, 78-70, following the Cavaliers upset of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Old Dominion returns to the Ted Constant Convocation Center on Monday January 5th against CAA runner-up Virginia Commonwealth to open up its nine-game home slate against its CAA rivals.

ABOUT MARYLAND:
Maryland, the 2006 NCAA Champions, enter Sunday's contest with an 8-2 record, ranked 15th in the Associated Press Poll and 16th in the ESPN/USA Today Coach's Poll. The Terps, who went 33-4 a year ago reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, return three starters and six letterwinners from last year's 33-4 team. The Terps were picked second in the Preseason ACC Poll. Maryland opened the season dropping an 80-68 contest at TCU before rattling off seven straight wins, including a 90-76 victory against Lady Monarch rival James Madison back on November 20th. The win streak came to an end of December 7th with an 86-57 loss at Pitt, but bounced back two days later with an 83-52 victory at Loyola. Its been 12 days since the Terps were in action against the Greyhounds. Maryland has four players averaging double figures led by senior guard Kristi Toliver at 15.3 points per game. Senior forward Marissa Coleman checks in at 15.0 points per game and a team-leading 8.4 rebounds per contest. Redshirt freshman Kim Rodgers, a Virginia Beach native and Princess Anne High School product, came off the bench to make her first career appearance for Maryland in their victory over Loyola putting up 14 points, going 4-of-4 from beyond the arc.
ALL-TIME SERIES WITH MARYLAND:
The Lady Monarchs renew the series with Maryland taking on the Terrapins for the first time since 1993. Old Dominion will be looking to end a eight-game Terp win streak and pick its first win over Maryland since 1985. Maryland leads the all-time series 10-8.
ALL-TIME VS. THE ACC:
The Lady Monarchs have taken on at least one current member of the ACC every season since 1972-73. Old Dominion holds an 88-68 all-time record against the Atlantic Coast Conference, which includes a 78-70 victory over #16/11 Virginia in the home opener. The Cavaliers were coming off an upset victory in Knoxville over Tennessee.
HOME COURT STREAK COMES TO AN END:
The Lady Monarchs saw its 29-game homecourt win streak come to a close in the 81-76 loss to #11/13 Tennessee. Old Dominion was tied along with the University of Hartford for the nation's longest active home win streak. The win streak dated back to the Dec. 30, 2006, 72-55, victory over national runner-up Rutgers. ODU's previous last home loss at the Ted Constant Convocation Center was also against Tennessee, 59-75, back on Dec. 22, 2006.
FAMILIAR FOE BREAKS HOME STREAK:
Tennessee has broken several of ODU's home court win streaks in the past. In addition to Thursday's 29-game home game win streak snapped, the Lady Vols also halted the Lady Monarch's 64-game home win streak in 1981, 33-game home win streak in 1999, and a 17-game home win streak in 1995.
OH SO CLOSE:
The five-point, 81-76, defeat was the closest loss for the Lady Monarchs in the Lady Vol's current 13-game win streak over Old Dominion. The next closest game was a 10-point, 68-58, setback back on Jan. 2nd, 2005. Old Dominion led as late as 1:57 in the game, holding on to a 71-70 edge. The game saw 12 lead changes and nine ties. Tennessee led by no more than seven in the contest.

Since the doors opened at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in 2002, the Lady Monarchs have enjoyed a 84-13 record.
CAA HOME COURT STREAK:
The Lady Monarchs have won 34 straight homeCAA contests dating back to the January 14, 2005,78-59, victory over Virginia Commonwealth. ODU'slast conference loss at the Ted Constant ConvocationCenter was against Delaware, 70-73, on January 9,2005. Old Dominion holds a 161-2 home CAAmark.
NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP:
Sophomore Jasmine Parker earned her first career start in Thursday night's contest with #11/13 Tennessee. The 5-6 second-year Lady Monarch ended the night with 14 points as one of four Lady Monarchs in double figures going 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.
J.P FROM THREE:
Sophomore Jasmine Parker is certainly a Lady Monarch for opponents to be wary of from beyond the arc. Parker hit her first six three's of the season and in the last two games has gone 8-of-13 (.615) from downtown. In her last outing, Parker shot 80.0 percent from three going 4-of-5 from three-point range against #11/13 Tennessee.
ADDING DEPTH:
Sophomore Sierra Little made her first appearance of the 2008-09 season against #11/13 Tennessee. Playing 12 minutes, the sophomore Lady Monarch tied her career-high five five boards against the Lady Vols and added a pair of blocks and three points.
IMPROVING FROM THE STRIPE:
Old Dominion shot over 75 percent from the free throw line for the third time this season in Thursday's contest with the Lady Vols. The Lady Monarchs went 19-of-24 from the charity stripe shooting 79.2 percent, their second highest percentage this season. Seniors Jen Nuzzo and Jazzmin Walters each went perfect from the line going 3-of-3 and 2-of-2 respectively.
R-E-J-E-C-T-I-O-N:
Senior Tiffany Green is currently ninth in the nation in blocks per game, averaging 3.0 per contest through the first seven games of the season. Brittany Pittman of Morehead State currently leads the nation swatting away 6.0 shot per game. Last season, Green led the CAA in rejections at 1.94 per game. She is currently sixth on the CAA All-Time Blocks Leaders List with 172 career swats.
CAREER NIGHT:
Sophomores Shadasia Green and Jasmine Parker each collected career-highs in the Lady Monarch's outing against Saint Joseph's. Parker led all scorers with a career-high 19 points, while Green posted her first career double-double with a career-high 14 points and career-tying 11 rebounds.
RANK `EM UP - AP POLL:
The Old Dominion women's basketball team will head into this week's contests against Tennessee and Maryland receiving votes for the third consecutive week. The Lady Monarchs have ranked as high as No. 23 in the poll. Five opponents on the 2008-09 Lady Monarch slate are featured in the poll, including undefeated Texas at No. 5 and defending NCAA champion Tennessee coming in at No. 11. Also in the Top 25 are Maryland, the 2006 NCAA Champions, seated at No. 15 and No. 17 Virginia. Michigan State slipped out of the poll after suffering four consecutive losses.
RANK `EM UP - ESPN/USA TODAY POLL:
The Old Dominion women's basketball team continues to receive votes in the Coach's Poll for the third consecutive week. The Lady Monarchs ranked as high as No. 20 in the poll. Also appearing in the Poll are Lady Monarchs opponents Texas at No. 5 and Tennessee at No. 13. Also in the Top 25 are Virginia at No. 15 and Maryland at No. 16.
