Moderator: Good afternoon everyone. Welcome to today's live chat with Old Dominion women's basketball head coach Wendy Larry. Coach Larry will be here shortly. There is still plenty of time to submit questions for coach.
Moderator: ODUSports.com would like to welcome Lady Monarch Head Coach Wendy Larry to today's chat. Let's get underway...
Jimbo (Norfolk): Coach Larry I wanted to know if there was any possibility for the Lady Monarchs to switch conferences for better competition since every year your team never has any competition in the CAA and wins, even though winning never gets old.
Wendy Larry: First of all, the Colonial Athletic Association has improved significantly in the last five years. Last year, three teams participated in post-season tournaments. In order for the women's basketball team to change conferences, the entire athletic department would have to change conferences. We also would need a conference that would want our entire athletic department, including football.

Camp Taji, Iraq: Have always been a big Lady Monarch fan, feel bad that I can't see them play this school year but try to follow them while deployed here in Iraq, anyway, how is the departure of Rachel DeMita affected the team future? Is it possible to get a replacement this school year?

(Go Lady Monarchs, beat Tennessee!!)Glen Villanueva

Wendy Larry: Rachel will certainly be missed and not replaced this year, but we will use that scholarship for next year's recruiting class. God Speed and will pray for your safe turn from Iraq.
norfolk: Are our team good enough to go to the sweet sixteen again this season?
Wendy Larry: Anything is possible. This team is very young and will continue to work hard on a weekly basis.
Charles (Norfolk): Do you think the women's game willmove the three-point line out as the men did, maybe to the international distance?
Wendy Larry: Actually, we've been shooting from the men's distance. The men's line is the dark line they see before they reach the lighter three-point line marked for the women. Over the last six games, we haven't taken a "women's" three-point shot yet. Its very confusing. I think I would like to see it become a common game, nationally and internationally, where there is one distance for men, women, and international.
Karla (Portsmouth): Wendy,What is your most memorable Lady Monarch moment as a coach?
Wendy Larry: Walking out of the tunnel in Cincinnati and see three full sections of support for Old Dominion at the Final Four. There were as many, if not more, fans there for us as there were for some of the larger schools that were participating.
Moderator: Still time to submit question for Coach Larry.
Paula(Sufolk): Wendy, Continued success for theLady Monarchs. What is your take on the NCAA going back to thefour team 1st and 2nd rounds instead of the eight?
Wendy Larry: I've always been in favor of a neutral court. But since we aren't ready for that from a marketing perspective, I like the idea of a earned home court advantage in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

scott (virginia beach): Their has been a growing trend of women becoming the head coaches of men in high school basketball across this nation. Do you coach Larry, as a former president of the WBCA and head coach of many years, ever envision the day where women will break the gender gap and become a head coach of a mens college basketball team?

Keep the home winning streak alive coach! Good Luck!

Wendy Larry: I think there are women capable of coaching men on the college level. Someone would have to hire them.
Paula (Chesapeake): Wendy, Who influenced you themost in terms of coaching?
Wendy Larry: My high school coach, Marge Giles, had a huge impact on my coaching philosophy. I've been fortunate to have great mentors. Marianne Stanley certainly was one. Lute Olson was another. Paul Webb was also another.
Rachel: Great to see Celeste on your staff. What is Allison Greenedoing now?
Wendy Larry: She's working for the government in Washington, D.C. ...Speaking many languages of course!
Moderator: We are coming to a close with today's chat with Lady Monarch Wendy Larry. If there are any more questions, please submit them now.
