Madison, NJ. - The ABA Jersey Express have signed former Old Dominion University star point guard Isaiah Hunter (ODU '06) out of Charlotte, NC. Hunter, a 6'2 guard,born in Queens, NY, played college basketball for ODU from 2002-2006, where he was a three-time All-CAA selectionand earned a 2005 All- Tournament selection. Hunter also ranked 11th in the CAA in scoring and three point field goal percentages and 10th in free throw percentage.
Hunter helped lead ODU to the 2005 CAA Championship and an NCAA tournament berth with a 28-6 record, and as a senior in 2006, the Monarchs reached the semi-finals of the NITAnd finished with a 24-10 mark.
In his senior year, he was the team's leading scorer (14.3) and scored a career high 29 points in the NIT quarterfinal game at Hofstra University and also poured in 28 in the NIT game vs. Colorado.Isaiah completed his college career with 1,425 points which ranks him 17th on ODU's all-time list. Hunter was a second team All-CAA selection in 2005, third team in 2006 andAnd 2004.
"Isaiah is one of the most talented point guards that we've every signed," said team President Marsha Blount. "He is truly a floor general with great court vision and the ability to score. He's the complete package and Isaiah will attract a lot of attention with Coach Reynolds style of play. We believe Isaiah will be our first NBA call up."
Opening night for the Express is Saturday, November 15th at 7pm when the Express take on division rival Westchester Phantoms.
