Tulsa, Okla. – The Old Dominion University men’s tennis team had a tough day on Tuesday in round two of the D’Novo/ITA Men’s All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. as the Monarchs were eliminated from the singles and doubles competition.
In singles action, Aleksandr Seleznev won the first set 7-5, but dropped the final two 6-3, 6-3 as he fell to 66th ranked Richard Wire of Stanford. Seleznev opened the tournament with a straight set victory (6-3, 7-5) Miami’s Carl Sundberg.
On the doubles court Seleznev teamed with Tobias Fanselow to defeat the 45th ranked duo of Chris Chirico and Wil Spencer of Texas A&M, 9-8 (3) in their first round match. However, that momentum was halted in round two by Columbia whose squad of Bogdan Borta and Jonathan Wong handed the Monarchs a 9-7 loss.
