NORFOLK, Va. -- Lady Monarchs women's soccer newcomer Victoria Johnson (Norfolk, Va.) was named the CAA Rookie of the Week today, after a two-goal, three-assist weekend helping lead the team to a pair of victories. Johnson scored her first career gamewinner and tallied a game-high six points against Elon University. She is second on the team in scoring with 12 points, in goals with four and leads the team in helpers with four.
The Old Dominion rookie took 10 shots, putting six on goal this weekend as the team improved to 5-0 to start the season. In the two shutouts this weekend, Johnson had a direct impact on five of the ten scores with either and assist or the goal.
Johnson has started all five games for the Lady Monarchs and is among the conference leaders in every major category. She is third in the CAA in points and points per game, tied for third in goals and tied for the league lead in assists.
Old Dominion returns to the pitch this weekend as they travel to unbeaten Radford University (2-0-2) and will try to halt the Highlanders best start in over 10 years. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 14. ODU returns home the following weekend to host Akron and NC State.
