NORFOLK, Va. -- ODU swept the trio of events entered on the first weekend of the sailing season with a first and second place finish at the Riley Cup, a first, second and fourth place finish at the ODU/BYO Laser Radial and a win of the Laser South #1. At the ODU hosted Laser Radial event, three Lady Monarchs finished in the top five including winner Stephanie Roble and second place finisher Katrina Williams.

The fleet was able to finish 12 races after a slow first day and the Lady Monarch sailors took advantage. Roble won the event with 29 total points, never finishing out of the top five and winning three races. She led nearly the entire event, ahead of the fleet for all but the first race.

Aside from one race, where Williams slipped to 12th, the Lady Monarch sailor looked as good as Roble during the regatta. She also won three races and added seven more top five finishes as she held off St. Mary's College's Mimi Roller, who made a solid move the second day.

Roller's sailing on the second day was enough to trampoline sophomore Morgan Wilson for third, as the Lady Monarch settled for fourth, just eight points behind the Seahawk sailor. Wilson sailed a very consistent regatta, finishing with two wins and five more top fives, without ever finishing outside the top ten boats.

Newcomer Arianna Baker also sailed in the event for ODU, finishing 8th overall. She struggled early on, but made significant progress in the event, finishing with four races in the top six finishers, including a high of third place once.
