NORFOLK, Va. -- After three completed races at the ODU/BYO Radial regatta to open the 2008-09 season, three Lady Monarchs are atop the leaderboard. Sophomore Stephanie Roble paces the fleet with six total points, followed by junior Katrina Williams with eight and sophomore Morgan Wilson with nine. Each of the three ODU sailors got a win on the first day.
Roble never finished out of the top three boats on the first day, with a second, first and third for her six total points. Williams, a two-time national qualifier, finished with a fifth, second and first in order to finish second after the first day. Wilson won the first race of the day and followed it with a sixth and second place finish for nine total points. Arianna Baker is also sailing in the event for ODU, and finished with 30 points on the first day.
The regatta will continue on Sunday morning as the sailors finish the first weekend of the year.
