NORFOLK,VA--Old Dominion University junior righthander Dan Hudson was selectedin the fifth round, (The 150th overall selection) of the Major League Baseball draft by the American League Chicago White Sox. The Virginia Beach, Va. native (Princess Anne HS) becomes the 12th Monarch ever to be drafted in the fifth round or higher.

Hudson was 5-6 with a 4.76 earned run average. He led the CAA in strikeouts with 107 in 92 innings of work. Opponents hit only .249 against the second team All-CAA selection. In three seasons, Hudson has 295 career strikeouts in 292 innings of work which ranks him second all-time at ODU and tenth all-time in CAA history. Hudsonhad three complete games this year and fanned a season and career high tying 13 in agame against CAA Tournament champion James Madison.

As a sophomore, the 6-3, 200-pounder was 8-5 with a 3.46 ERA and 109 strikeouts in106.2 innings. Hudson was named first team All-CAA.
