NORFOLK, VA-- The Old Dominion University Baseball Monarchs return to action Wednesday afternoon when they host the Highlanders of Radford.The first pitch will beat 2:30 in the Bud Metheny Baseball complex.
ODU senior centerfielder Jimmy Miles ranks third in the nation is stolenbases with 32. Max Most ranks third in the CAA with 16 stolen bases. Asa team, ODU ranks seventh nationally with 93 stolen bases.
On the mound, ODU is second in the league with a 5.21 earned run average,as Dan Hudson and Anthony Shawler lead the league in strikeouts. Hudsonhas 86 in 68 innings of work, while Shawler has 83 in 64 innings of work.
Designated hitter/leftfielder David Burns leads the Monarchs with tenhomers and 39 RBI. Bryan Cipolla leads the team with 47 RBI. Jimmy Milesis hitting .374, followed by Cipolla at .359 and Anthony Shawler with.353. Shawler is second on the team with seven homers.
Alex Gregory leads Radford with a .389 batting average along with 11homers and 42 RBI. Reggie Keen is second at .376 with 13 doubles andfour triples.
The Monarchs host Georgia State in CAA play this weekend beginning Fridayat 7 p.m.
