Norfolk, Va. - The Old Dominion University women's tennis team took on 43rd ranked Louisville Sunday morning and the visiting Cardinals (15-5) walked away with a 5-2 victory, halting the Lady Monarchs winning streak at two.
The ODU tandem of Charleen Haarhoff and Nadine Fahoum got things started with an 8-5 win over the Louisville duo of Natalia Baez and Bianca Gorbea at No.1 doubles. However, the Cardinals secured the doubles point with an 8-6 victory at No. 2 and an 8-5 victory at No. 3.
In singles action, the Lady Monarchs managed just two victories on the day. Fahoum improved to 18-2 on the year with a 6-2, 0-6, 6-0 decision over Lindsey Jones at No. 2, while at No. 3 Joanna Dobrowolska won in straight sets over Gorbea, 6-2, 7-6 (7-0) to improve her singles mark to 16-4.
ODU returns to action this Friday, April 11 when the Lady Monarchs will visit CAA foe Virginia Commonwealrh.
