ODU Takes 2nd Place At Robert P. Arrigan Memorial Regatta

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Old Dominion sailing team finished second overall at the Robert P. Arrigan Memorial Regatta this weekend, finishing with 104 total team points, just nine back of the winning Navy team. Sophomores John Shockey and Wilson Stout combined with freshman crew Ashley Pellerito for the B division win with just 36 total points.

Stout and Pellerito sailed in the first six races in B division, tallying three 4th place finishes, a 3rd and two 2nd's. Shockey took over for Stout the rest of the way and combined with Pellerito for four wins, a second place finish and two more 3rd place efforts. The ODU boat finished eight points in front of Washington College for the B division win.

In A division, freshmen Stephanie Roble and Arielle Darrow sailed to a third place finish with 68 total points. The pair never finished out of the top eight boats among the 17 teams in attendance and won one race at the event. They also added eight total top five finishes.

The top three boats at the event were separated by just 18 points before a 35-point dropoff to the fourth place finishing team in Georgetown. Navy finished with 95 total points, ODU with 104, and Washington College with 113.
