Six Monarchs Ranked Nationally As ODU Hosts VCU This Weekend

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Baseball Monarchs host the Rams Of Virginia Commonwealth in a three-game CAA series beginning Friday at 7 p.m.

As a team, the Monarchs rank 14th nationally in doubles with 68, 17thnationally in stolen bases with 58 and 29th nationally in sacrificeflies with 15.

Individually, Jimmy Miles is 17th nationally in runs scored per game(1.37), fifth nationally in total runs scored with 38, 16th nationallyin total hits 46, and 31st in triples with three. In stolen bases, Milesranks third nationally with 24, 33rd in bases on balls with 23, and 31stin triples with three.

Chris Keenan ranks 22nd nationally in bases on balls with 24 whileBryan Cipolla is 51st in RBI with 31. Anthony Shawler ranks 16th nationally with 12 doubles, while Max Most and Jimmy Miles rank 50thwith ten doubles each.

Pitching has Dan Hudson ranked 15th nationally with 49 strikeouts in40.2 innings, while Anthony Shawler in 19th with 47 in 41.1 innings ofwork.

VCU,the defending CAA Tournament Champion is 5-19 overall and 0-8 in theCAA. The Rams are coached by Paule Keyes (ODU'84) ODU, who was the regular season champion and pre-season favoriteis 15-13 overall and 7-5 in the CAA.

Saturday will be Alumni Baseball Day at the Bud. Sunday will be LittleLeague Day as youth baseball players wearing their jerseys will be admitted free. There will also be an autograph session with the Monarchsafter the game.
