HEMPSTEAD, NY--Hofstra defeated Old Dominion 6-4 Sunday afternoon with a three-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning.
After ODU tied the game up at three in the top of the sixth, Felix Adamkiewicz doubled Home Anthony Sarno to give the Pride a 4-3 lead. Mark Stuckless then grounded out to Force home Elliot Habgung, and David Cole singled home Adamkiewicz to make it 6-3.
ODU's first run came on a ground out RBI by Edgar Hernandez in the second inning. In the third Jimmy Miles walked, advanced to second on a groundout, stole his Nation's leading 30th base and came home on a wild pitch.
ODU's third run came in the sixth as Anthony Shawler led off with a double and Scored on a sacrifice fly by Gerard Hall. That tied the game at three. The Monarchs Final run came in the seventh when Anthony Shawler singled home Max Most. ODU would later load the bases, but Hofstra reliever Nick Panzarella came on and pitched out of the jam.
The Monarchs return to action Tuesday night when they travel to the University of Maryland.
