NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University senior centerfielder Jimmy Miles(Orlando, FL.) leads the nation in stolen bases as released by the NCAA Tuesday. Miles stole two more bases Tuesday night against Longwood and now has 29 steals in33 attempts. He ranks fourth nationally at 0.82 steals per game.
Miles also ranks 26th nationally in runs scored per game at 1.3. He has scored 46 runs in 34 games played. As a team, ODU ranks 17th nationally with 70 stolen bases. Milesleads the Monarchs in hitting with a .390 batting average.
ODU junior righthander Dan Hudson (Virginia Beach, Va.) ranks 24th nationally in strikeouts per game at 11.03 and ninth in total strikeouts with 67 in 54.2 innings of work.
In the Colonial Athletic Association, Hudson leads the CAA in strikeouts, followedby Anthony Shawler (Chesapeake, Va.) at 9.89. Ryan Bergh (Reddick, FL.)is second in the CAA in complete games with three.
The Monarchs return to action this weekend when they travel to Hempstead,NY for a three-game CAA series against Hofstra. Friday's game begins at 3 p.m.
